Objectif officiel

ECOWAS has applied to The Embassy of Sweden for funding of 11,2 million SEK to carry out the “Transitional Support to the ECOWAS Regional Radio” during July 2018 to September 2019. The main objective of the intervention is to provide transitional support to the ECOWAS radio that will contribute to the promotion of local peacebuilding initiatives in Liberia, while building the capacity of the radio to guarantee a smooth expansion to cover the 15 countries in the West African sub-region. Two main outcomes are expected to be achieved by the intervention: - ECOWAS solidifies its operational capability to maintain broadcast of its radio station while developing its capacity to expand its radio facilities to all 15 countries in West Africa; and -ECOWAS Utilizes radio programming to establish strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, other media/communication institutions, and the public so as to create a reliable platform for the promotion of peace and development in Liberia. The contribution was extended 2022-2024 in order to 1) ensure unbiased and non-partisan news reporting during the election year 2023, and 2) implement a proper exit-strategy including transfer of knowledge to and solarising of Community Radio Stations
