Optical Positioning System with High Ranging Accuracy and Long Unambiguous Range Using Multi-Tone Interferometry

Yu-Chuan Chang, Pei-Hsun Wang, You-Chia Chang, Tzyy‐Sheng Horng et autres

We present a multi-frequency interferometric LiDAR that launches and processes multiple optical tones simultaneously. This single-shot approach eliminates time-dependent phase drift, achieving 40-µm precision and 2.5-m unambiguous range—offering a practical, robust, and accurate solution.

High-Speed and High-Brightness 850 and 1060 nm VCSEL Arrays for Free-space Optical Communication

Jian-Wei Tung, Po-Jui Lai, Zhe-Wei Hsu, Jia-Liang Yen et autres

Vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays featuring high-speed and exceptional brightness are critical for minimizing diffraction loss on the receiver side of optical wireless communication (OWC) channels, especially in 6G and satellite communications. Compared with their edge emitting counterpart, such as DFB lasers, …

Planar Tandem APD Array for Free Space Laser Communications Applications

Pei-Syuan Lin, Kaiping Wang, You-Chia Chang, Jin‐Wei Shi

Enlarging the active window size of the photodetector (PD) while sustaining its high-speed and highresponsivity performances is the key to achieving a highperformance photo-receiver with a large field-of-view (FoV) angle for application in a free space laser communication system. However, in the …

Dynamically Switchable Polarization Lasing Between q‐BIC and Bragg Resonance Modes

Hongyu Yuan, Jiayao Liu, Xiaolin L. Wang, Zimeng Zeng et autres

Abstract Quasi‐bound states in the continuum (q‐BICs) enable low‐threshold lasing through high‐ Q cavity modes, yet their polarization tunability remains constrained by nanostructure‐imposed cavity symmetries. By engineering a microcavity with a suitable duty cycle (0.34), a polarization‐switchable distributed feedback (DFB) laser is …

A Balanced Wideband Filtering Phase Shifter With High Frequency Selectivity

Wei Zhang, Jin‐Wei Shi, Mengjie Yue, Kai Xu et autres

ABSTRACT A balanced wideband filtering phase shifter is achieved by utilizing a cascaded structure composed of two half‐wavelength transmission lines, two T‐type short‐circuited stub‐loaded transmission lines, and a ring structure constructed by a capacitor and a terminal short‐circuited coupled line. Four differential‐mode …

Construction of 4-D FMCW LiDAR images using narrow linewidth extended cavity DBR laser with highly linear wavelength sweeping

Yu-Kuan Tsai, Chia Chien Wei, You-Chia Chang, Jin‐Wei Shi et autres

A FMCW LiDAR system of extended cavity distributed Bragg grating (DBR) lasers, on an InP generic foundry platform, is established with a narrow linewidth of ≈ 25 kHz. Meanwhile, utilizing the coupled phase modulator in the reverse-bias configuration, highly linear wavelength sweeping …

Strong Bandwidth Enhancement of Zn-Diffusion Single-Mode 850 nm VCSEL Transmission over Graded-Index Single-Mode Fiber

Zhe-Wei Hsu, Xin Chen, Jian-Wei Tung, Chia-Hsuan Wang et autres

Strong O-E bandwidth enhancement (26 to 31GHz) of single-mode 850nm Zn-diffusion VCSEL via 1km graded-index single-mode fiber transmission is demonstrated. Error-free 48Gbit/sec transmission is achieved under low bias current as 4 mA without using equalizers.
