Tanzanie - Deuxième tranche du projet Telecommunications

Objectif officiel

The Project is part of a larger multi-donor funded Telecommunications Restructuring Program (TRP), whose objective is to rehabilitate, modernize and expand the telecommunications network in Tanzania. The targets of the TRP are: i) increasing teledensity from 0.3% in 1992 to 0.7% in 1996; (ii) increasing telephone penetration from 1.5% in 1992 to 3.8% in 1996; and (iii) raising demand satisfaction from 37% in 1992 to 50% by 1996. The project consists of the following components : (i) Switching-Eight local and one trunk exchange; (ii) External Line plant 47900 Km, pairs of cables; (iii) Transmission equipment; (iv) Vehicles; (v) Training; (vi) Project Management. The implementation of this project will greatly improve the telecommunications services in Tanzania. This project will also complement the Kagera Basin Telecommunications project funded by the Bank which has been completed.
