A transposase-derived gene required for human brain development

Luz Jubierre Zapater, Sara A. Lewis, Rodrigo Lopez Gutierrez, Makiko Yamada et autres

Vertebrate brain development is associated with prominent neuronal cell death and DNA breaks, but their causes and functions are not well understood. DNA transposable elements could contribute to somatic genome rearrangements; however, their contributions to brain development are largely unknown. PiggyBac transposable …

Modular Platform for Therapeutic Drug Delivery Using Trifunctional Bio-Orthogonal Macromolecular Conjugates

Danmeng Luo, Ning Wang, Hannah Major-Monfried, John Ralls et autres

Targeted delivery of macromolecular therapeutics holds great promise for overcoming the limitations of conventional small molecules, enabling the modulation of protein-protein interactions and precise genome editing. However, efficient, safe, and cell type-specific delivery remains a major challenge. To address this, we developed …

A transposase-derived gene required for human brain development

Luz Jubierre, Sara A. Lewis, Rodrigo Lopez Gutierrez, Makiko Yamada et autres

DNA transposable elements and transposase-derived genes are present in most living organisms, including vertebrates, but their function is largely unknown. PiggyBac Transposable Element Derived 5 (PGBD5) is an evolutionarily conserved vertebrate DNA transposase-derived gene with retained nuclease activity in human cells. Vertebrate …

Epidemiological Analysis of Salmonella Enteritidis Isolates Using Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis and Bacteriophage Typing over the Period of April 2000 to March 2003 in Gifu Prefecture

Michiyo Itagaki, Yutaka Shiraki, Makiko Yamada, Mitsuo Tokoro et autres

We examined a total of 151 Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis strains isolated in Gifu Prefecture during the period from April 2000 to March 2003 by using bacteriophage typing and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). Bacteriophage typing classified them into twelve phage types (PT) …

A Study on Changes of Residence Plants through Renewal after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster

Makiko Yamada, Isao NAKASE
