Digital-Down-Conversion of OFDM-QPSK/16QAM Signals at 28 Gsps for Beyond-5G Intermediate Frequency over Fiber

Junya Nishioka, Takatoshi Akamatsu, Tsuyoshi Yoshida, Yoshiaki Konishi et autres

For beyond-5G mobile fronthaul, the performance of a demultiplexer with 28 Gsps digital-down-conversion is evaluated. The demultiplexer can cleanly separate intermediate frequency channels that have offsets <8.25 GHz and satisfies the 3GPP requirements.

A Study of Multi-Channel Analog-to-Digital Conversion for Beyond-5G Mobile Fronthaul

Kiyoshi Onohara, Junya Nishioka, Tsuyoshi Yoshida, Naoki Suzuki

We propose and experimentally demonstrate the improvement of the dynamic range of analog-to-digital conversion using multi-channel analog-to-digital converters for beyond-5G mobile fronthaul. More than 10dB improvement is achieved using 28GS/s and 8-bit two-channel analog-to-digital converters.

Considerations on the Use of Digital Signal Processing in Future Optical Access Networks

Luiz Anet Neto, Jochen Maes, Per Larsson-Edefors, Junichi Nakagawa et autres

In this invited article, we address the impacts of the rise of signal processing for increased capacity per wavelength and better receiver sensitivities in next generation optical access networks. We start by recalling the main channel limitations of currently deployed intensity modulated, …

3 × ONU No-Guard-Band Coherent OFDMA-PON Uplink Demonstration Using a Real-Time Transmitter With a Free-Running 100-kHz-Linewidth ECL

Yuki Yoshida, Akihiro Maruta, Kenji Ishii, Kiyoshi Onohara et autres

In this study, we demonstrate coherent OFDMA-PON uplink transmission experimentally using three optical network units including a 3-Gbaud real-time transmitter prototype. Cooperative digital signal processing at the ONUs and an optical line terminal enable no-guard-band subcarrier-based multiple access with free-running up to …

Demonstration of No-guard-band Coherent IFDMA/OFDMA/SC-FDMA-PON Co-existence Uplink System using Real-time IFDMA Transmitter

Kenji Ishii, Yuki Yoshida, Kiyoshi Onohara, Masaki Noda et autres

We demonstrated multiple-FDMA co-coexisted PON uplink transmission using the real-time ONU transmitter prototype. Flexible bandwidth assignment to multiplexed 3-ONU and the distance-adaptive capability is successfully indicated.

Prototype of Uplink Transceiver for IFDMA-PON System by FPGA Emulation

Kiyoshi Onohara, Kenji Ishii, Yuji Akiyama, Masaki Noda et autres

We demonstrate a power-efficient coherent interleaved frequency domain multiple access passive optical network (IFDMA-PON) uplink system. The digital signal processing circuits for coherent IFDMA-based quadrature phase-shift keying (PSK) are implemented on 40-nm field programmable gate arrays. By employing polar-coordinate transformed mapping of …
