食物アレルギーに対する厳格な食物除去との関連が示唆される軽度発達遅延と血清クレアチニンキナーゼ上昇，低カルニチン血症を呈した10か月女児例を報告する．姉が卵アレルギーのため母親は妊娠授乳中菜食主義にし，患児自身は厳格な食物制限が行われていた．血清カルニチン，クレアチニンキナーゼの異常は，L-カルニチン補充と栄養指導により速やかに改善した．食物アレルギーの治療において，厳格な食物制限や不適切な代替食はカルニチン欠乏と筋疾患の原因となる可能性が考えられた．
