Objectif officiel

Through strategic infrastructure investments, this Action seeks to foster Mozambique¿s digital transformation through widening affordable connectivity. It positions the EU as a strategic partner in Mozambique¿s digital sector, leveraging European expertise in sustainable connectivity, trusted data systems and digital governance. EU engagement brings strong added value by mobilising private investment (with clear opportunities for EU trusted vendors), promoting European standards and ensuring an inclusive and sustainable approach to digitalisation in the country. Anchored within Team Europe's broader cooperative framework, this initiative will become a fundamental part of the Digital Economy Package (DEP), symbolizing a milestone in EU-Mozambique bilateral relations. It underscores a political commitment to boost European investments, aligning with Team Europe's support for digital transformation through initiatives like Italy¿s Piano Mattei, and implemented through a blending project with a pillar assessed entity, to be identify during the design phase. The EU's contribution is crucial in overcoming a defined market failure: the limited commercial viability of network rollout due to low revenue streams and affordability constraints in underserved areas. By providing financial support, the project bridges viability gaps, enables connectivity for excluded communities, and contributes to unlocking access to essential services and mobile banking.
