Egypt - ICT Development Support

Objectif officiel

The project objective is to create an enabling environment to improve access to efficient and affordable communications services, and to develop a vibrant ICT sector to enhance the efficiency of Government services and increase the competitiveness of national firms. The project will support the Government of Egypts (GOE) program to: (i) strengthen the telecommunications regulatory framework and build the institutional capacity of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to undertake its functions in an independent, competent and transparent manner; (ii) elaborate a strategic plan to modernize the postal sector and prepare it to provide services that enable E-Commerce, by successfully developing a market environment and attracting private investment in the sector; and (iii) supporting the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) in developing its capacity to promote the ICT industry, facilitate e-commerce activities, and coordinate the development and implementation of a framework for e-government..
