VEROUS - Project for the Energy Enhancement of Organic Residues in Senegalese Universities

Objectif officiel

The project will contribute, through the production of energy from renewable sources and good circular economy practices, to the promotion of smart cities and resilient urban / territorial development. In particular, biogas systems will be created, starting from biodigesters, for the canteens of the Senegalese universities, using the organic residues available. The residual matter of the biodigestion process will be used to contribute to the conservation of soils intended for agricultural production activities. The intervention will therefore be of an integrated type, having the ambition to contribute to accelerate the national energy transition process and at the same time return organic matter to soils characterized by low fertility, low agricultural yields, loss of forest cover, in order to better cope with climate change-related issues and environmental depletion.
