Objectif officiel

UNDP, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and with funding from the European Union, is implementing Tanzania’s First Energy Efficiency Action Plan (2021–2025). The project supports the country’s goal of achieving affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all, by accelerating key energy efficiency measures and aligning them with the Tanzania Energy Efficiency Strategy and National Development Vision 2025. In 2024, the Embassy of Ireland joined the initiative, contributing to capacity building through the training of 126 professionals in energy auditing and management, expanding women’s scholarships at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, and promoting innovation and awareness. Key milestones included the Energy Efficiency Innovation Challenge and the Regional Energy Efficiency Conference.Building on this progress, the Embassy of Ireland is now supporting a new phase under UNDP’s ECLID Portfolio. This phase focuses on strengthening institutional partnerships, including a knowledge exchange visit to Ireland, establishing an Energy Efficiency Unit within the Ministry of Energy, supporting the development of the Second National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP II), and launching a tech-driven Energy Efficiency Hackathon to crowdsource innovative digital solutions.
