It should be noted that this is a very innovative approach in the battle against climate change. This intervention will aim at strengthening capacities and acting as a catalyst for the mobilisation of climate finance for national priorities, in close articulation and synergy with the main intervention. The STEP Facility project, also known as Study, Expertise and Preparation Facility for Climate Resilience and Energy Transition in Mozambique, is a collaboration between the Belgian government and Mozambican authorities with an objective to strengthen capacities and act as a catalyst for the mobilization of climate finance for national priorities. The project aims to support and institutionally strengthen Mozambique towards achieving an inclusive transition to a climate-resilient and low-carbon economy, considering vulnerable communities in both rural and urban areas. This includes empowering Mozambican authorities, communities including women, youth, and other vulnerable groups, to actively engage in cross-sectoral coordination, with a focus on improving climate-proofed public services, enabling policies, and initiatives for energy transition. The project falls under the Energy sector, specifically Renewable Energy, as part of Mozambique's broader cooperation program from 2023 to 2028.
