Objectif officiel

The Emergency Power Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (EPIRP) Phase II is the second energy sector project financed through the African Development Bank administered Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund (Zim-Fund). It is part of the Government priority power systems rehabilitation investment programme under the MTP 2011-2015. Phase I of the EPIRP was designed to improve the provision of adequate and reliable electricity in an environmentally sound manner by the rehabilitation of the Ash Handling Plant at the Hwange Power Station and the power transmission and distribution facilities in the country within the initial USD 35 million budget provided by the Zim-Fund donors. Phase II is designed to further the benefit of the Phase I interventions and include aspects that are not addressed in Phase I. The total estimated project costs for Phase II is USD 32.94 million. It is to be implemented as a stand-alone project in two stages. The first stage of the Project will comprise of preparation of technical and tender document for all the works packages and implementation of activities for dedicated power supplies to water and sewerage works in Harare and the replacement of transformers at Orange Grove, Mashava, Marvel and Chertsey substations. The second stage will be the implementation of the rehabilitation works at Hwange Power station, the replacement of a transformer at Sherwood substation and the development of a power sector investment plan.
