Niger - Elaboration de la stratégie nationale des energies domestiques ( SNED)

Objectif officiel

This Study on the Preparation of a National Domestic Energy Strategy (SNED) is in sync with the country’s development policy and the Bank’s country strategy which emphasizes: (i) sustainable and equitable economic growth; and (ii) poverty reduction. The definition of the National Domestic Energy Strategy (Stratégie Nationale pour les Energies Domestiques, SNED) will not only permit the setting up of an adequate institutional framework for the sustainable management of the sub-sector but also the preparation of a medium-term programme for the Government that could be submitted to donors for financing. The study is also seen as an opportunity to develop the capacity of the Ministry of Energy whose managers, by working closely with the consultant throughout the study, will be able to enhance their skills in energy programming and planning. The SNED will be conducted in three phases: (a) Sub-sector diagnosis; (b) SNED preparation; (c) Preparation of an Action Plan. The study is estimated to cost UA 688 300 and will be implemented over twelve (12) months.
