Objectif officiel

This project for the rehabilitation and strengthening of the Inga hydropower plants and Kinshasa's distribution network is part of the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) and the Government's priorities for the energy sector. It concerns the rehabilitation of ten (10) of the fourteen (14) groups of the Inga hydroelectric complex, the construction of a high-voltage line between Inga and Kinshasa and the rehabilitation and extension of Kinshasa's distribution network, including some 50,000 connections. The implementation of the project should contribute to improving the living conditions of the population, especially that of Kinshasa and its periphery. It should also strengthen regional cooperation and the integration of electricity networks in the central and southern part of the continent. The project will also have spillover effects on the economy through the availability of electricity and the improvement of the quality of service, as well as the operation of businesses, favoring the installation of new companies. The intervention consists of the following components: A) production; B) transportation; C) distribution; D) capacity building and governance; and E) support for project implementation.
