Objectif officiel

The electrification project for semi-urban areas in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso (PEPU) is an investment operation that seeks to expand the electrical networks and establish electrical connections in these two towns. The project is largely based on the Ouagadougou Power Networks Restructuring and Extension Study conducted in 2015. The study proposed appropriate technical solutions for better structuring of the Ouagadougou power network and best options for its expansion to satisfy the steadily-growing demand in semi-urban areas. The project aims to restructure and expand the medium and lowvoltage distribution networks in the country’s two largest towns, install transformer substations, and establish 17,500 connections to households. It also comprises several activities intended to strengthen SONABEL’s operational capacity through the procurement of logistic resources, operating equipment, and electricity calculation software, as well as through the training of field workers and staff in charge of conducting studies. Implementation will span a period of 48 months from 2017 to 2020.
