Objectif officiel

TThe development objective of the project is to support the Govt. of Madagascar in implementing its strategy to accelerate sustainable development in Madagascar, in urban as well as rural areas, through the use of more efficient and modern sources of energy, inclusing wood resources. To achieve this objective the project seeks to: [i] increase access to electricity and telephone services at the community level in rural areas and increase relaibility in urban areas; [ii] promote the use of modern energy with energy efficient end-use equipment; [iii] promote economically viable alternative sources of energy; and [iv] devolve control over natural wood resources to the local communities through long-term management plans and the estbalishment of rural woodfuel markets.
