В статье представлен развернутый комментарий к публикации ранее не издававшегося на русском языке и не привлекавшегося исследователями письма И.И. Шувалова к Вольтеру о событиях дворцового переворота 27–29 июня 1762 г., в результате которого на российский престол взошла императрица Екатерина II. Текст послания был издан Т. Бестерманом в 1959 г., но сравнение его публикации и оригинального документа позволило выявить ряд неточностей, что обусловило необходимость повторной публикации. В статье впервые предложен развернутый археографический и исторический комментарий к данному источнику. Автор анализирует контекст переписки двух просветителей и предпосылки создания документа, а также реконструирует представления И.И. Шувалова о событиях «июньской революции», основанные на его личном опыте, свидетельствах третьих лиц и официальной версии событий, сформировавшейся к моменту написания письма. Анализируются представленные в письме образы основных действующих лиц переворота — Петра III, Екатерины II, Е.Р. Дашковой. Последствия создания данного документа рассматриваются через призму трансформации русской политической культуры и ее инструментария. The article is an extended commentary on a previously unpublished letter by Ivan Shuvalov to Voltaire concerning the events of the palace coup of June 27–29, 1762, which brought Empress Catherine II to the Russian throne. Although the text of the letter was published by T. Besterman in 1959, a comparison of his edition with the original manuscript revealed several inaccuracies in the rendering of the handwritten content, prompting this republication. The article provides, for the first time, a detailed archaeographic and historical commentary on the letter. The author analyzes the context of the correspondence between the two Enlightenment figures and the circumstances that led to the creation of the document. The study also reconstructs Ivan Shuvalov’s perception of the «June Revolution», based on his personal experience, external testimonies, and the official narrative of events that had formed by the time the letter was written. Additionally, the article examines the portrayals of the coup’s key figures – Peter III, Catherine II, and Ekaterine Dashkova – as presented in the letter. Special attention is paid to the consequences of the document’s creation, analyzed through the lens of the transformation of Russian political culture and its instruments.
