Physical Literacy and Environmental Design
Le résumé fourni par la source
Physical literacy necessarily involves the concurrent development of competence, confidence, motivation, and valuation while actively participating within a movement experience. An individual&s;s movement experience can be strongly influenced by the physical, emotional, social, and creative components of a movement space, all of which can be supported through a holistic physical literacy-enriched approach. This chapter describes a new framework for designing inclusive movement spaces centred on the creation of a positive user experience. The physical literacy-enriched environmental design (PLEED) framework is based on seven key principles: (1) A level of challenge for all levels of ability; (2) A type of challenge for all interests; (3) Connection; (4) Movement intersection; (5) Movement opportunities; (6) Affordances in movement contexts; and (7) A neutral risk perspective. Working PLEED examples from England, Sweden, and Australia are provided.
