The Mueller matrix analysis of articular cartilage tissue using liquid crystal modules
Le résumé fourni par la source
This study investigates the polarization properties of articular cartilage tissue sections using Mueller matrix analysis with a liquid crystal-based imaging system. The surface region of the cartilage, which is rich in type II collagen, was selected for imaging. To analyze the polarization characteristics of the tissue, computational algorithms based on polar decomposition and differential Mueller matrix decomposition were applied. The extracted polarization parameters include fast axis orientation, linear retardation, linear dichroism, and optical rotation angle, which provide insights into the birefringence and structural organization of collagen fibers within the tissue. The results demonstrate the potential of Mueller matrix imaging with liquid crystal modulators for quantitative characterization of cartilage tissue and its collagen distribution.
