Abstract Based on original amphiphilic copolymers of N-vinylpyrrolidone with (di)methacrylates, water-soluble compositions containing up to 4.3% curcumin and forming stable nanoscale structures in aqueous media were obtained and characterized. It was shown that curcumin in most polymer matrices occurs in an amorphous form and is less aggregated, in contrast to linear poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone. It was found that nanosized curcumin exhibits antioxidant and antiradical effects; the values of half-maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC50) for each composition in a model system of mouse brain homogenate were determined, and their dependences on the composition of the polymer component were established.
