Differential Cerebrovascular Reactivity in the Precuneus: A Resting-State fMRI Study of Alzheimer's Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment
Le résumé fourni par la source
Motivation: The individual cerebral hemodynamics variations and their relationships with cognitive function are not fully understood for Alzheimer's disease (AD) spectrum disorders. Goal(s): To investigate changes in cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) obtained by resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD. Approach: Rs-fMRI, which does not require engagement in a CO2-realted task, was utilized to assess CVR in patients with MCI and AD. Results: Significant changes were observed in the CVR of the precuneus (PCU) in patients with MCI and AD. CVR values showed positive correlation with cognitive function impairment. Impact: Cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) obtained by rs-fMRI in the precuneus can reflect the cognitive function impairment in patients with MCI and AD, and might be a potential biomarker for assessing cognitive dysfunction.
