Molecular Genetics of Closed-Angle Glaucoma
Le résumé fourni par la source
Abstract Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is a complex group of conditions with many contributing factors, including genetic predisposition. PACG is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) and closure of the iridocorneal angle of at least 180 degrees. Sex and racial differences are significant, with a preponderance of cases in females and in patients of Asian descent. Improved phenotyping opportunities should facilitate upcoming genetic studies. Normalized biometric parameter measurements based on race may enable the pooling of different datasets, given the importance of phenotyping details. In this chapter we will focus on this condition’s clinical and known genetic characteristics, and compare PACG to more common forms of glaucoma, such as POAG and congenital glaucoma (PCG).
