Bruce V. Moore (1891–1977) is a pivotal figure in the evolution of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. He made significant contributions to occupational interests and personnel interviews and greatly improved graduate education in applied psychology. Moore published two books: one, co-edited with George W. Hartmann, was entitled Readings in Industrial Psychology ; the other, coauthored with Walter V. Bingham, was entitled How to Interview . Moore served as the first chair of the Department of Psychology at Penn State University. During his tenure, he committed to a scientist-practitioner model and cultivated an environment rich in applied research. In his role as the executive officer of the American Psychological Association’s Education and Training Board, Moore was instrumental in the accreditation of graduate programs and organizing conferences that were crucial to developing various psychology subfields. Moore left his mark on the field of I-O psychology and at Penn State; the current Penn State psychology building is still named after Bruce V. Moore today, honoring his lasting contributions to the field and the institution.
