Le résumé fourni par la source

Biogaz farmers put the Methalae project on the right track, explaining how anaerobic digestion has changed, sometimes in depth, their production methods; how it has been more than a means to diversify energy production, how it improved the durability and sustainability of their farms and how it facilitated their agroecological transition process. The objective of Methalae program was to show the conditions under which anaerobic digestion can bea catalyst for a transition to agroecology. This survey, conducted on 46 French farms, each one linked to an agricultural methanisation unit, goesagainst many received ideas in the field of anaerobic digestion.Anaerobic digestion has systematically improved farms sustainability. There was no large expansion, nomassive increase in herds, and no decrease in grazing time. Thanks to a better valorization of the effluents and to a finer control of the organic fertilization, the dependency on the mineral fertilizers wasreduced. Soil carbon (C) storage was improved and the overall energy balance of the farms improved: 6 farms became positive energy farms and one farm stored more C than it emits.Despite an often difficult project acceptability during the design phase, links with local stakeholders weresystematically reinforced, 95% of respondents would return to the "methanisation" adventure, if it were to be redone.
