Abstract This research paper investigates the role of learners' motivation in English language learning at the tertiary level in Libya. The study aims to explore factors affecting students' motivation to learn English, examine the relationship between motivation and academic performance, and provide recommendations for enhancing learners' motivation in Libyan tertiary institutions.
