许多因素可能影响糖尿病的监测指标糖化血红蛋白（HbA1c）的检测，异常血红蛋白变是其中一个重要因素。本研究就临床工作中所发现的一例异常检测值展开探讨。采用离子交换高效液相色谱原理的Tosoh G8及毛细管电泳法原理的Capillary2 FP对该异常标本进行检测，提示存在变异体后，通过聚合酶链式反应（PCR）及测序进一步探讨突变位点。结果显示，Tosoh G8检测值为2.9%，Capillary2 FP检测峰图提示存在与HbA1c部分重叠的变异体峰，发出报警并不给出具体计算值。基因测序结果证实该样本血红蛋白β链基因2号外显子59位氨基酸处发生了赖氨酸>天冬酰胺的突变，即AAG>AAC。说明该样本是一例罕见的血红蛋白J-Lome杂合变异体，可影响HbA1c的检测，建议采用糖化白蛋白其他替换指标监测和评估血糖水平。
