Aerosol-Assisted Crystallization Lowers Intrinsic Quantum Confinement and Improves Optoelectronic Performance in FAPbI 3 Films

Gurpreet Kaur, Madsar Hameed, Jae Eun Lee, Karim A. Elmestekawy et autres

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide FAPbI 3 has emerged as a promising semiconductor for photovoltaic applications offering a suitable bandgap for single-junction cells and high chemical stability. However, device efficiency is negatively affected by intrinsic quantum confinement (QC) effects that …

Inter-Layer Diffusion of Excitations in 2D Perovskites Revealed by Photoluminescence Reabsorption

Jiaxing Du, Marcello Righetto, Siyu Yan, Karim A. Elmestekawy et autres

Abstract 2D lead halide perovskites (2DPs) offer chemical compatibility with 3D perovskites and enhanced stability, which are attractive for applications in photovoltaic and light‐emitting devices. However, such lowered structural dimensionality causes increased excitonic effects and highly anisotropic charge‐carrier transport. Determining the diffusivity …

Interdiffusion control in sequentially evaporated organic–inorganic perovskite solar cells

Rahul A. Nambiar, David P. McMeekin, Manuel Kober Czenry, Joel A. Smith et autres

Humid atmosphere annealing enhances interdiffusion in sequentially evaporated perovskites, leading to improved crystallinity and reduced non-radiative recombination. This boosts PLQY and raises PCE to 21.0%, while enhancing stability under 85 °C and full-spectrum illumination.

Nanostructure and Photovoltaic Potential of Plasmonic Nanofibrous Active Layers

Ryan M. Schofield, Barbara M. Maciejewska, Karim A. Elmestekawy, Jack Matthew Woolley et autres

Nanofibrous active layers offer hierarchical control over molecular structure, and the size and distribution of electron donor:acceptor domains, beyond conventional organic photovoltaic architectures. This structure is created by forming donor pathways via electrospinning nanofibers of semiconducting polymer, then infiltrating with an electron …

A green solvent enables precursor phase engineering of stable formamidinium lead triiodide perovskite solar cells

Benjamin M. Gallant, Philippe J. Holzhey, Joel A. Smith, Saqlain Choudhary et autres

Abstract Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) offer an efficient, inexpensive alternative to current photovoltaic technologies, with the potential for manufacture via high-throughput coating methods. However, challenges for commercial-scale solution-processing of metal-halide perovskites include the use of harmful solvents, the expense of maintaining controlled …

Metastable interphase induced pre-strain compensation enables efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

Karim A. Elmestekawy, Pietro Caprioglio, Qiuyang Li, Qixuan Zhong et autres

We developed a pre-strain compensation strategy by introducing a metastable interphase at the buried interface to release the thermal-induced residual tensile strain in perovskite films, leading to highly efficient and stable perovskite solar cells.

Vertically oriented low-dimensional perovskites for high-efficiency wide band gap perovskite solar cells

Andrea Zanetta, Valentina Larini, Vikram Vikram, Francesco Toniolo et autres

Controlling crystal growth alignment in low-dimensional perovskites (LDPs) for solar cells has been a persistent challenge, especially for low-n LDPs (n < 3, n is the number of octahedral sheets) with wide band gaps (>1.7 eV) impeding charge flow. Here we overcome …
