内湾河口部干潟浅海域周辺での底質輸送特性の解明を目的として，熊本港周辺の4地点で濁度・流況等に関する連続観測を約2週間実施し，潮汐流や波浪（風波），航跡波による底質の巻き上げと輸送への影響について検討した．現地観測から得られた底面近傍での平均流速や波浪軌道流速振幅などの外力と，底層浮遊懸濁物（SS）濃度との対応関係を調べることにより，各外力因子による底質輸送への寄与を定量的に把握することを試みた．その結果，熊本港南側の観測点では，主に上げ潮流によるSS濃度の上昇に伴う底質の輸送が，観測全期間を通じて生じた正味の輸送量において支配的となる一方で，北側の観測点では潮汐流による輸送と同程度に，波浪（風波）や航跡波によるSS濃度の上昇が輸送量に影響することを示した．
