Patrolling males and waiting females: sex-specific reproductive movement patterns of black sea bream in oyster farming areas

Kentaro Kawai, Yosei Nakagoshi, Tatsuki Saika, 伊東 祥太 et autres

Abstract The costs and benefits associated with reproduction differ between males and females, potentially leading to sex-specific movement patterns during spawning. In Hiroshima Bay, black sea bream Acanthopagrus schlegelii predominantly spawns in oyster farming areas (OFAs), where feeding and spawning sites spatially …

“Lure fishing” strategies by Mothocya parvostis (Isopoda: Cymothoidae): Feeding behavior-mediated infestation on juveniles of black sea bream, Acanthopagrus schlegelii

Hiroki Fujita, Kentaro Kawai, Michitaka Shimomura, Tetsuya Umino

Cymothoidae Leach, 1818 (Isopoda) are parasitic crustaceans that infest fish inhabiting marine, brackish, and freshwater environments. Few studies have examined the strategies Cymothoidae use to parasitize their hosts. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that Mothocya parvostis Bruce, 1986 (Isopoda: Cymothoidae) …

Contribution to the catch and reproduction of hatchery-reared ayu Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis in the upper reaches of Kagami Dam Lake in the Kagami River, Kochi Prefecture

Atsushi Urabe, Riou Nagaiwa, KAZU SUMIKAWA, Atsushi Tsuyuki et autres

Cultivation of Aurantiochytrium sp. Using Pickle Seasoning Liquid Waste and Application of the Raw Biomass for Fish Aquaculture

Anh Thi Nhat Tran, Qi Deng Sun, S. Nakai, Toshikazu Suenaga et autres

Abstract Aurantiochytrium sp. strain L3W is a heterotrophic microorganism that produces docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which are essential for the growth of marine fish. In this study, pickle seasoning liquid waste was used for culturing strain L3W and the …
