Microbial community transition and carbon metabolism plasticity under continuous evaporative salinization in hypersaline brines

Ya Zhang, Jiamin Liu, Ming-Xian Han, Jianrong Huang et autres

Saline lakes are critical yet fragile ecosystems where microbial communities drive biogeochemical cycles under extreme salinity gradients, yet their adaptive mechanisms to evaporative salinization remain poorly understood. This study investigated microbial community dynamics and carbon source utilization strategies across five distinct evaporation …

Salinization influences the biodiversity‐ecosystem functioning relationship more strongly at high salinity

Jianrong Huang, Ming-Xian Han, Jian Yang, Yi Wang et autres

Abstract Salinization threatens ecosystem stability by altering microbial diversity and function, yet how salinity influences biodiversity‐ecosystem functioning (BEF) relationships remains unclear. In this study, we constructed artificial microbial communities (5–40 strains) with varying salt tolerance and phylogeny, culturing them across a salinity …

Microbial Assembly and Stress-Tolerance Mechanisms in Salt-Adapted Plants Along the Shore of a Salt Lake: Implications for Saline–Alkaline Soil Remediation

Xiaodong Wang, Xu Liu, Xinyu Qi, Jianrong Huang et autres

Investigating the microbial community structure and stress-tolerance mechanisms in the rhizospheres of salt-adapted plants along saline lakes is critical for understanding plant–microbe interactions in extreme environments and developing effective strategies for saline–alkaline soil remediation. This study explored the rhizosphere microbiomes of four …

Effects of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Inputs on the Degradation of Terrestrial Grass Organic Matter in Saline Lake Sediments

Zenghui Wu, Ming-Xian Han, Jibin Han, Xiying Zhang et autres

Limited Microbial Contribution in Salt Lake Sediment and Water to Each Other’s Microbial Communities

Ming-Xian Han, Huiying Yu, Jianrong Huang, Chuanxu Wang et autres

Climate change and human activities have led to frequent exchanges of sedimentary and aquatic microorganisms in lakes. However, the ability of these microorganisms to survive in their respective habitats between saline lake sediment and water remains unclear. In this study, we investigated …
