我が国は超高齢社会のフロントランナーであり，インプラント治療戦略にはパラダイムシフトが希求されている．本依頼論文では，インプラントパーシャルデンチャー（Implant removable partial denture: IRPD）に関し，治療術式，インプラントまたはIRPDの成功率と残存率，辺縁骨吸収，機能，口腔関連QOL，患者満足度，インプラント埋入部位，荷重条件，義歯設計，アタッチメントの種類，生物学的・補綴学的併発症などの科学的現在地を調査した．その結果，2024年に出版された著者らのIRPDに関するスコーピングレビューとシステマティックレビューに近年の科学的情報を追加調査したものの，インプラントを応用したIRPD（埋入されたインプラントにヒーリングアバットメントを含むアタッチメントシステムを応用し，その上に義歯床が設置されるタイプのIARPDと，インプラント支持型サベイドクラウン／ブリッジを直接支台装置または間接支台装置としたIC/F-RPD）に関する明確な治療戦略を構築するための科学的情報は限定的であることが明らかとなった．IRPDは，天然歯，インプラント，義歯の三要素が共存する極めて複雑な口腔内環境を患者に提供するため，IRPDの臨床応用には十分に留意するとともに，最大限の知識と技術をもって治療提供を行うべきであろう．

本依頼論文は，研究から得られた科学的情報に基づいて，骨質の概念と力に対する骨組織の応答性を正しく理解することであり，著者らが行ってきた骨質に関する一連の基礎的研究と非臨床試験について検討した．その結果，動物種（部位特異性はある）によらず，インプラントに荷重を付与すると，オッセオインテグレーション，骨量，骨密度，骨質が大きく変化した．また，骨質を変化（向上）させるデンタルインプラントの存在が確認できた．したがって，骨質は骨密度とは独立した概念で，同義でもなく類似もしておらず，荷重環境下ではインプラントデザインによりインプラント周囲の骨質が大きく変化することがわかった．
