Decoupling Energy Demand from Boron Compliance in Seawater Desalination via a Hybrid Single-Pass Multistage (HSPM) System

Likun Ma, Pengfei Sun, Yuling Deng, Zhiyang Zhu et autres

Achieving stringent boron compliance in seawater desalination has long depended on energy-intensive multipass reverse osmosis (RO) with alkaline dosing, creating a trade-off between energy consumption and water quality. This work breaks this bottleneck by developing a hybrid single-pass multistage (HSPM) system with …

Tuning Structure and Selectivity of Thin-Film Composite Membranes via Ex Situ Generated Nanobubbles

Pengfei Sun, Zimou Feng, Fengxian Xu, Xing Wang et autres

Nanobubbles (NBs) play a critical role in tailoring polyamide (PA) morphology and optimizing membrane separation performance. However, conventional in situ generated NBs during interfacial polymerization reactions suffer from uncontrolled size distribution and undesirable interference with heat and mass transfer, which complicates their …

Energy-Efficient Trajectory Optimization of Freight Train on Steep Gradients with Dynamic Programming

Qiangqiang Liu, Xiaoyun Feng, Juxia Ding, Yu Rao et autres

Most existing research on energy-efficient train control assumes that railway tracks are predominantly flat or feature only gentle gradients. However, in real-world scenarios—particularly on China's railways, trains frequently traverse steep uphill and downhill gradients. On steep gradients, maintaining a constant train speed …

Optimal Eco-Driving Strategy for Trains Considering Dynamic Losses

Qingyuan Wang, Shiqi Li, Pengfei Sun, Chengcheng Fu

This paper focuses on developing a mathematical framework for optimal control problems in train systems by accounting for dynamic losses in the traction transmission system. Unlike conventional approaches that rely on simplistic static loss assumptions, our formulation incorporates dynamic losses to provide …

Energy-Saving Optimization of Metro Train with Bidirectional Converter Substation

Chengcheng Fu, Yang Zhu, Pengfei Sun, Qingyuan Wang et autres

The operation energy consumption of urban rail transit has attracted much attention, and the use of bidirectional converter substations (BCS) and the optimization of train driving strategies are effective ways to reduce energy consumption. This paper proposes the power supply-train operation coupling …

Analysis of the influence of high-speed dynamic mechanical characteristics based on tire unevenness

Pengfei Sun, Kejie Luo, Shuiting Zhou, Rui Mao et autres

To investigate the influence of tire non-uniformity on the mechanical performance of radial tires, a simulation study was conducted to analyze the non-uniformity caused by the overlapping treatment at the interface regions during the manufacturing process. In this study, considering the manufacturing …

Microscopic Structural Evolution of Deep-Sea Sediments During Shear Processes

Zhiyong Xu, Haining Lu, Jianmin Yang, Pengfei Sun

Abstract The microscopic structural characteristics of deep-sea sediments play a significant role in determining their macroscopic mechanical behavior. Particularly under shear processes, the evolution of microscopic structures is crucial for understanding the mechanical response and engineering applicability of deep-sea sediments. This study …

Iron promotes periphytic biofilm accumulation of ammonia nitrogen in paddy ecosystems

Jing Tao, Pengfei Sun, Yonghong Wu
