Objectif officiel

<p>The <strong>overall objective</strong> of ACTIVATE project is to contribute to sustainable economic growth by empowering Somali communities to have climate resilient infrastructure in renewable energy access, circular economy and agri-food systems.</p><p>The <strong>specific objectives</strong> (outcomes) are:</p><p>1. Increase access to affordable renewable energy technologies and market growth for pastoralist, agro-pastoralist, and fishing communities.</p><p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To enhance adoption of circular economy practices by MSMEs across the 5 identified value chains</p><p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Climate resilient agri-food system enhanced by efficient and effective market-based value chain approaches</p><p>Key <strong>activities </strong>include rehabilitating boreholes and wells, powering water sources with renewable energy (RE) to benefit over 50,000 households and 200,000 livestock, and installing desalination plants at strategic locations. The project will also provide 300 irrigation pumps, establish RE-powered potable water systems with drinking points for communities and livestock, and conduct baseline studies to evaluate market demand and investment prospects in Somali agri-food and pastoral sectors. Additionally, RE-powered processing systems will support local meat, milk, sesame, and cereal industries, alongside refrigerated vans for transporting dairy and fish products.</p>
