ElectriFI Country Window for Mozambique

Objectif officiel

<p>New ElectriFI funding for Mozambique is designed to provide interim financing solutions to help projects overcome obstacles or otherwise reach a sufficiently mature stage where the private sector can take over. 1 The EDFI Mozambique ElectriFI Country Window facility will invest in high impact investments with relative high-risk profiles, i.e. such profiles that are out of scope for commercial financial institutions. Consistent with our approach and principles described above, we propose to maintain the following objective for this increased country window budget:</p><p>Overall objective: Enhance access to renewable, sustainable and reliable energy sources, principally in rural and underserved areas, contributing to an effective, climate resilient, low-carbon economy and society</p><p>Outputs</p><p>¿ Economic: invest catalytic, flexible and long-term funding in early-stage companies and financial intermediaries on their path to financial viability, support job creation; and with specific target on women beneficiaries.</p><p>¿ Social: Enhanced access to renewable energy with new and improved, more stable connections, specifically in in rural and underserved areas.</p><p>¿ Environmental: add of renewable energy generation capacity.</p><p>Outcomes:</p><p>¿ Economic: accelerate the access to energy sector by building track record, demonstrating innovative business model and their replicability, positioning beneficiaries for follow-on investments</p><p>¿ Social: increase access to affordable and reliable energy to households and SME¿s (and including more efficient and rational use of energy sources) to stimulate increased economic activity, improve working conditions, health and livelihoods, supporting populations that are currently living in rural and underserved areas, and specifically women (by targeting beneficiaries who meet the 2X Challenge indicators and by including the clean cooking sector).</p><p>¿ Environmental and climate change adaptation and mitigation: replacing fossil fuel sources and generation by renewable energy has a direct impact on GHG emissions.</p>
