<p class="ql-align-justify">The Project consists of the construction of three new buildings and the rehabilitation and extension of one existing building, which will host the future NCC and the Backup Control Center in the greater Maputo area, as well as two regional Control Centers for the central and northern grid in Chibata and Nampula. The buildings will be equipped with SCADA/EMS systems for automated monitoring and control of the Mozambican power grid.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">The NCC, together with the Backup Control Center, will monitor and control the high-voltage grid (¿ 66 kV). The two new regional Control Centers, together with the current Control Center for the southern grid, serve to monitor and control the medium-voltage grid.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">The project also comprises adaptation measures for various substations to enable them to communicate automatically with the control centers. In addition, the construction of telecommunication infrastructure (including retrofitting existing transmission lines with fibre optic cables) is also part of the project.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">Finally, the project includes training measures for the relevant employees of the Mozambican energy supplier EDM as well as the conclusion of a service and maintenance contract.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">The beneficiaries of the project are all private households, institutions and commercial users connected to the nationwide electricity grid who benefit from a more reliable electricity supply. As a result, the use of expensive and environmentally harmful diesel generators can be reduced. The electricity supplier EDM benefits from the project by being able to better monitor and control the nationwide electricity grid and by being able to charge for or export more electricity transmitted.</p>
