Enhanced access to electricity services - Lobito Corridor enablerThis Action focuses on enhancing Angola's electricity distribution sector by improving grid infrastructure, reducing energy losses, and strengthening the institutional and regulatory capacities of key stakeholders such as ENDE (National Electricity Distribution Company) and IRSEA (Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority). Targeting the Lobito Corridor, the Action aims to expand access to clean energy in Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Luanda, directly benefiting approximately 600,000 people.The Action is structured around three Specific Objectives (SO): SO1: Enhanced sustainable energy access through Grid Reinforcement, Rehabilitation, Densification, Extension and Quality of Service Improvement with a focus on disadvantaged communities/households; SO2 Reduced Non-Technical Losses through Enhanced Customer Management, Revenue Collection and Metering Infrastructure Consolidation and SO3: Enhanced effective governance of the decarbonisation pathway in the energy sector.A EUR 20 million grant, implemented through a blending is expected to catalyse at least EUR 100 million in public investment, driving local development and ensuring long-term sector sustainability while addressing social, environmental, and human rights considerations. Vulnerable layers of society could benefit from the action by reducing economic and social inequalities
