Objectif officiel

Senegal Power Compact - Transmission Network Project - Grid Stabilization Activity: This Activity aims to support the sustainability of the Transmission Project and the optimal performance of Senegal's transmission network through the addition of spinning reserves to address network stability issues. This is anticipated to include a combination of network management improvements and batteries for energy storage sufficient to ensure the availability of spinning reserve capacity necessary to ensure network stability during frequency excursion scenarios and to smooth the intermittent nature of renewable energy generation. In light of potential private sector interest in investing in battery storage and the opportunity to leverage available MCC Funding and the Government Contribution to obtain sufficient spinning reserve capacity through battery storage, the Parties shall explore the possibility of structuring a public private partnership ("PPP") to implement the battery storage component of this Activity; provided that if a PPP is not possible MCC and the Government shall identify and implement an alternative combination of interventions to ensure the availability of sufficient spinning reserves.
