Objectif officiel

The government of Senegal has ambitious plans for the expansion of electrification and has stipulated a high share of renewable energies in political strategy papers. The climatic conditions are very well suited for the use of photovoltaic (PV) systems. So far, these have only been imported and their quality is not always sufficient. Confidence in the technology and thus also demand can be expanded. The module supports 2 university institutions in setting up PV testing laboratories, the networking of all stakeholders and the professional associations of companies active in the PV sector. Awareness raising activities for potential users up to ministries are also carried out. The aim of the module is to increase the dissemination of quality-tested PV systems to better supply the population with reliable renewable energy. Essential measures of the module are the equipment of the two testing laboratories, the implementation of technical trainings and in quality management, as well as the strategic cooperation of all stakeholders. The political partner is the MPE (Ministry of Energy) and ANER (National Renewable Energy Agency) is the implementing partner. The target group is the rural population, which until now has not had access to safe and reliable electricity supply. The module is implemented in Dakar mainly through the 2 laboratories that test the imports of PV components for the whole of Senegal. The two professional associations are also based in Dakar.
