Zambie - Projet Hydroélectrique d’Itezhi-Tezhi

Objectif officiel

The project involves the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a 120MW base load hydro power plant at the site of the ITT dam on the Kafue River in Zambia, and an electricity transmission line to transport energy to proposed substations in Mumbwa and West Lusaka. The project will bring power from the Itezhi-Tezhi Power Company (IPTC) power plant to a new substation located in Mumbwa via a 220 kV single circuit line 142 km long, and to the West Lusaka substation via a 330-kV, 134-km dual-circuit line. Its implementation will bring benefits both locally and nationally, through expanded access to electricity and increased employment and social services. The construction of the plant should last 41 months and that of the transmission line 18 months. The cost of the plant will be US $ 239.05 million and the cost of the transmission line will be US $ 111.36 million.
