Ouganda - Projet Hydroélectrique d’Achwa II

Objectif officiel

Achwa 2 will be the first HPP in Northern Uganda, an area that succumbed to rebel activity and has been underserved. The project involves the construction and operation of a 42MW run-of-the-river hydro power plant (Achwa 2 HPP) located on the banks of the Achwa River in the districts of Pader, Kitgum and Gulu in Uganda. A 14km access road, 5km of service roads and interconnection facilities to the grid substation will be built as part of the project scope. The Achwa 2 power plant will be interconnected via a 180 km transmission line to the Lira substation, which will be built by Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) outside the scope of the project. Developing hydro power potential will provide Uganda with relatively cheaper, sustainable energy to drive economic growth and development.
