Ouganda - Projet de réseau de transport d’électricité Mbarara-Nkenda et Tororo-Lira

Objectif officiel

The Mbarara-Nkenda & Tororo-Lira Power Transmission Lines Project is located in west, north and eastern Uganda respectively. It will expand the coverage of the national transmission grid and enable UETCL to transmit electricity from upcoming 85 MW power plants and to improve the electricity access, reliability, and quality of supply to consumers in the country. The project is in line with both the Government’s development strategy and the Bank's operational strategy in Uganda, as articulated in the Country Joint Assistance Strategy Paper. It will connect the national grid with the proposed electricity generation at the Mputa oil sites near lake Albert, and the mini hydros as well as enhance the reliability and quality of supply of power to distribution companies and to ultimate consumers. It will also extend the coverage of the grid to unserved areas of the country. The project will comprise the following components: (i) Construction of transmission lines; (ii) Construction of Substations; (iii) Reactive Power Compensation; (iv) Technical Assistance; (v Project Supervision and Management.
