Mozambique - Projet d'électrification rurale, phase 3

Objectif officiel

The Rural Electrification Project (Electricity III) aims to promote development to contribute towards the reduction of poverty in the country. It's initiated as part of infrastructure development for rural towns and should supply cheap hydropower to 19 the rural towns in four provinces. The project should support the development of the high potential of irrigated agriculture, fisheries and tourism in the areas. In addition, the expansion of electricity to the rural communities should facilitate the implementation of other specific services, such as the provision of health facilities, clean water and educational facilities. It comprises (a) construction of 895.5 km of 33 kV overhead line; (b) erection of 76 of 33/0.4 kV pole mounted transformer stations; (c) construction of 72 km of 0.4/0.22 kV overhead lines; (d) installation of 1,700 street lighting points; and (e) connection of 7,053 consumers including households, service facilities, small industries and businesses, fisheries, and irrigated agriculture. The four (04) main components of the project are: (A) Construction of Distribution Networks (A1 Distribution Network- ADF, A2 Distribution Network- OPEC Fund); (B) EDM Supervision and Compensation; (C) Consultancy Services (C1 Engineering Services, C2 Audit Services); and (D) Training.
