[Varusation-derotation femoral osteotomy. Surgical treatment for Legg-Perthès-Calvé disease].

After femoral varus osteotomy, we observed: - clinically: disappearance of complaints and of post-operative shortening of the limb; - roentgenography: acceleration of vascular recovery, spherical remodeling and better covering of the femoral head but with persistent broadening. Surgical morbidity was low. We recommend that a femoral varus osteotomy should be performed soon after the onset of the symptoms. This holds for all children at each age with Caterall III or IV Perthes' disease, and eventually with Caterall II when bad prognostic factors are present.
