Radical formation in ethanol and heptane following the nuclear transformation of /sup 57/Co
Le résumé fourni par la source
A radiochromatographic method was used to determine the relative yields of alkyl iodides formed as a result of electron capture by /sup 57/Co in ethanol and n-heptane containing radioactive iodine at room temperature. In both systems the usual radiolysis due to Auger electrons is accompanied by a more severe fragmentation connected with the formation of highly ionized solvent molecules in Auger cascades.
