Culturally marked vocabulary of the thematic group "home" (based on Russian and German legends and traditions)

The aim of the research is to identify distinctive features in the representation of the home as a linguocultural code in Russian and German legends and folk tales based on a comparative analysis of culturally marked vocabulary of the thematic group "home". The material comprised texts of Russian legends and traditions from the collections of A. N. Afanasyev, N. A. Krinichnaya, E. A. Glushko, and Yu. M. Medvedev, as well as German legends and traditions from the first volume of the Brothers Grimm collection and Ludwig Bechstein's collection of folk legends and traditions. The article examines three subgroups of the thematic group "home": dwelling types; the interior space of the home; the yard and outbuildings; their semantic, functional, and mythological characteristics are analyzed across the two folklore traditions. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that culturally marked vocabulary of the thematic group "home" is described for the first time on the material of Russian and German legends and traditions as a unified comparative corpus. As a result, it was established that in Russian linguoculture, the home is a sacralized center of the peasant world, whereas in German linguoculture it represents a status-defined and mythologically marked topos of aristocratic and urban culture.
