The concept of artificial intelligence is becoming a part of the governance, artificial administration, and even the decision-making process in legal administration, which prompts serious questions about the quality of democracy and institutional control. With the impacts of algorithmic systems becoming a regulatory enforcer and in policy outputs, the opportunities of risks linked to transparency, discrimination, and lack of accountability escalate. This chapter discusses the ways in which the rule of law and democratic practices should be supported by relying on the principles of legality, transparency, and accountability in governing AI. It examines issues like black box problem, diffusion of responsibility and algorithmic discretion and suggests a normative model entailing the combination of legal protection, oversight and transparency norms to guarantee responsible and trustworthy AI usage.
