Le résumé fourni par la source
The practical relevance of advanced wastewater management approaches becomes evident through their application in real-world settings. This chapter brings together selected case studies from different regions to illustrate how smart technologies, innovative treatment processes, and sustainable governance models are being implemented in diverse environmental and socio-economic contexts. The case studies highlight both successful outcomes and the practical constraints encountered during planning, operation, and long-term system management. Beyond documenting technological performance, the chapter examines how local conditions such as regulatory frameworks, institutional capacity, financial resources, and public acceptance shape project outcomes. Comparative insights are used to identify common challenges, including system scalability, operational reliability, and data integration, as well as strategies adopted to address them. The chapter concludes by looking ahead, discussing emerging trends and research directions that are likely to influence the future of wastewater management. These include increasing system decentralization, greater reliance on digital tools, and closer integration with energy and resource recovery systems. By connecting practical experience with forward-looking perspectives, this chapter provides a closing synthesis that links innovation with long-term sustainability goals.
