Every human is liable to follow the sustainable development goals naturally. Several countries committed climate action recently for the attainment of the goals. In May 2021, the RBI set up a Sustainable Finance working Group within its Date of Reporting to lead the efforts and regulatory initiatives in the area of climate risk and sustainable finance. The financial sector plays a crucial role in implementing the goals properly. The Back to nature philosophy has contributed much to the implementation of goals. True sustainable development balances three equal pillars: economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection. The policy makers should focus on long term economic survival to be attained rather than choosing between economic prosperity and saving the planet. This paper analyses Indian scenario on the sustainability by decoupling development from geography. This is an empirical analysis of India’s SDG progress and ecological environment. KEYWORDS: sustainable development, forest cover, SDG, sustainable finance, ecosystem
