Replication data and analysis code for a study of the external criterion validity of the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) against destination-side carbon intensity and air connectivity. Coverage. 352 country-year observations for 44 economies across eight waves (1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2022). Contents. Data_Analysis.csv - one row per country-year with sector emissions, TTDI overall and dimension scores, macroeconomic controls, connectivity and derived outcomes. Data_Long.csv - sector-long representation (six tourism sectors per country-year). TTDI_Pillars.csv - TTDI overall and dimension values as present in the processed panel. Codebook.csv - field-level definitions, units and observed/derived status. Manifest.json - SHA-256 hashes, row counts, columns and runtime details for every output. panel.csv, connectivity.csv - processed inputs consumed by the release builder. build_data_release.py, analysis.py, extract_tourism_ghg.py - code to regenerate the release and reproduce the descriptive decomposition. Method. Destination-side tourism emissions are consumption-based GHG footprints (GWP100) for four tourism-characteristic sectors (hotels and restaurants; air transport; travel agencies and auxiliary transport; recreational, cultural and sporting activities) taken from the EXIOBASE 3 environmentally extended multi-regional input-output accounts. TTDI scores are the overall index and its five dimensions. Air connectivity is the IATA connectivity indicator. Missing values are retained as missing; no observations are imputed. Upstream sources.
