This dataset contains porewater chemistry, sediment properties, bulk stable-isotope measurements, and fatty-acid carbon-isotope compositions from Maungaroa and Glendhu methane seeps on the Hikurangi Margin, Aotearoa New Zealand. Samples were collected from seep-centre and peripheral sediments at depths of 0–3, 7–8, and 10–13 cm at distances from 400 to 0m of the centre of the seep. This work is part of the Gas Hydrates: Economic Opportunities and Environmental Implications (HYDEE) programme funded by the Ministry of Business, Inovation and Employement, contract CO5X1708.
